Soldier in the Civil War ; 4th Sgt. May 31, 1862. Transferred to Co. C 8th Regiment Georgia Cavalry 7-11-1864. Roll for 10-31-1864, last on file, shows him present.
Oak Grove Baptist Church booklet says he served for a time in the Army of Northern Virginia, and that he and his wife and family lived in Macon Co., GA in 1860. By 1880, he had moved to western Colquitt Co., then into Moultrie, when it was only a village. In 1902, he and his wife bought a 116 acre farm adjacent to Oak Grove Baptist Church on the north.
